Fellowship Opportunity

The College of Pharmacy at Howard University is one of the oldest and the most technologically advanced pharmacy schools in the United States. The College offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) degree program, and Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The program provides an intellectually challenging and nurturing environment for training students to assume leadership positions and for addressing the critical areas of human health. The Center of Excellence (COE) program, funded through the Department of Health and Human Services, was established to assist designated health profession schools and other public and non-profit educational institutions in order to strengthen the national capacity to produce a culturally competent healthcare workforce, whose diversity is represented by the U.S. population.

The COE at the Howard University College of Pharmacy seeks applications for a full-time post-doctoral fellowship position.

The post-doctoral fellow will closely work with COE Research section faculty and Pharmacy Administration faculty from the Department of Clinical & Administrative Pharmacy Sciences that constitutes faculty with trainings in patient-centered care, pharmacoepidemiology, health services research and health policy. We are seeking a fellow eager to participate in health disparity research projects in COE and the Center for Minority Health Services Research in the College.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Research interests that align with the University and College in health disparity and/or health services research with a focus on medication use and disease prevention;
  • Candidates must hold a doctoral-level research or equivalent degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, JD, or Pharm.D.) in social and administrative pharmacy, health services research, health policy, public health, law, clinical pharmacy or similar degrees. Strong preference will be given to candidates who possess both a research and clinical degree (or commensurate experience);
  • Reasonable quantitative analytic skills;
  • Capacity to teach in both the PharmD professional and PhD graduate programs; and,
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

The successful candidate will report to the COE Program Co-Director through the COE Research Section Leader.
