The Department of Radiology

The department provides diagnostic imaging services to patients of all age groups, from newborn to geriatric, inpatient as well as ambulatory patients.

For your convenience, we accommodate walk ins for many studies (like screening Mammograms and CT scans), but please call before coming. Some studies may require pre-authorization from your insurance company and some may require special preparation.

From the Chair

The department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is under the direct supervision of a board-certified radiologist. Learn More.

Howard University Hospital (HUH) is partnering with a private company (Nuance Corporation) to provide improved and faster communication of critical imaging reports to doctors.

  • Doctors can receive texts and emails on Smart Phone or Tablet
  • Doctors can download the free PowerScribe 360 Clinician App for iPhone or Android

Spine Services

We offer a comprehensive spine pain management program. Patients have access to specialists who can answer specific clinical questions about plans of care and procedures like specialized reads from Neuroradiologists with CAQ, Epidural Steroid Injection, Nerve Root Block, Facet, Hip and Shoulder Injection.
