The Department of Radiology

The department provides diagnostic imaging services to patients of all age groups, from newborn to geriatric, inpatient as well as ambulatory patients. Our goal is to provide excellence in clinical care, education and 
research using state-of-the-art imaging services.

For your convenience, we accommodate walk ins for many studies (like screening Mammograms and CT scans), but please call before coming. Some studies may require pre-authorization from your insurance company and some may require special preparation.


From the Chair

The department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is under the direct supervision of a board-certified radiologist. Learn More.

We offer a unique comprehensive approach to Breast Cancer Screening and accommodate walk-in Screening Mammograms and Breast Density Counseling as well as recommended, Breast MRI and  Interventional Breast Procedures like Biopsies.

Howard University Hospital (HUH) is partnering with a private company (Nuance Corporation) to provide improved and faster communication of critical imaging reports to doctors. Learn more.

Spine Services

We offer a comprehensive spine pain management program. Patients have access to specialists who can answer specific clinical questions about plans of care and procedures like:  Epidural Steroid Injection, Nerve Root Block, Facet joint injections. We also offer Hip and Shoulder Injections.

Innovative Collaboration with Radiation Oncology for Better Patient Care

Image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) is a new radiotherapy technique to target your cancer accurately while sparing the normal organs from excessive radiation and is unique at Howard University Hospital, where this  approach is used for treating advanced lung and esophageal cancer.
